I did not attend Film School. My background is Art.
I graduated with a fine arts degree from SMU and followed that up by attending Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles.
I would consider myself a Visualist. I have started spending more time working to improve my understanding of painting. It is one of the most difficult task. I believe the impossible is the most intriguing part of life.
I was in a darkroom at the age of ten. My father showed me how to make a contact print. When that image started to come to life I knew that was it. My dream was to work for Life Magazine. They went out of business in 1969, my last year in high school. When my wife and I were dating in high school, we often went to the movies, I noticed the name of the cinematographer and figured multiple images were just more single images. That seemed the way to go. I already knew a lot about cameras and how they worked. Learning how to see was the secret. Art school was the answer.
